The Arab Evangelical Episcopal School of Ramallah
Located in Ramallah, the Arab Evangelical Episcopal School is co-ed from kindergarten through grade twelve. Ramallah is located ten miles north of Jerusalem, situated on a crest of the Judean Hills. The name Ramallah can be translated from Arabic as the hill of God.
The school caters to both Muslim and Christian students. As a Christian private school, the school serves the Palestinian community in all its diversity, regardless of religion, gender, race, abilities and socio-economic status of the individual.
The core of the school's mission is to develop the whole person of the student. The school also promotes mutual understanding and tolerance among religions and cultures. It seeks to educate its students to become active citizens who participate in society.
The school opened in 1954 and originally consisted of one building and a boarding home for girls. It operated as an elementary school with grades kindergarden to grade nine. In 1990, the school decided to expand to encompass high school grades. The first high school class graduated from the school in 1993. The school built yet another building in 2003 which accommodated students from grade 9 through to grade 12. Currently, the school has an enrollment of 645 from Ramallah and the surrounding villages.
